How it works

Seven short chapters follow the unit’s lessons in order. Each step shows one idea with something to tap or move, then a quick check. A wrong answer names the likely mistake and gives one more try. Progress is saved on this device.

Numbers

Lengths are to the nearest half or fourth of an inch. Weights are in grams and kilograms, liquid volume in liters, and time to the minute, with elapsed times under an hour. Stories keep one unit throughout.

Words to know

Line plot: a number line with an X above it for each thing measured. Gram, kilogram: units of weight; 1,000 grams make 1 kilogram. Liter: a unit for how much a container holds, about a big water bottle. Elapsed time: how much time passes from a start time to an end time.

Not covered

Design a Carnival Game (Lesson 16) is an optional lesson. Practice it all in Science Fair, the game for this unit.
