Toy Workshop

Welcome to the Toy Workshop, where every toy gets packed, stacked, and shipped! Pack toys in equal groups on the Packing Line, find Missing Pieces, solve the Puzzle Wall, break apart rectangles in the Block Room, multiply big numbers at the Crate Stacker, and share them out at the Shipping Dock. Then fill the Big Order. Each station matches lessons from class.

How a round works

Each station deals 8 fresh problems (the Big Order deals 10). A right answer on the first try earns 10 points. After a wrong answer, the game names the likely mistake and gives one more try for 5 points. In the Big Order, each right answer loads a box onto the delivery truck.

The "Show me" hint

Hints use the pictures from class: counters in equal groups, hops on a number line, arrays, the multiplication table, rectangles broken into two parts, base-ten blocks in equal groups, area diagrams, and tape diagrams. A used hint caps that problem at 5 points.

Mistakes it catches

Giving the size of a group when the question asks how many groups (or the other way around), subtracting or adding instead of dividing, starting a division with the smaller number, multiplying only one part of a broken-apart rectangle, adding the sides instead of finding the area, writing 12 for 12 tens, multiplying only the tens (or only the ones) of a teen number, forgetting to share the tens left over, and doing only one step of a two-step story.

Numbers

Multiplication and division facts stay within 10 × 10, and division never has a remainder. Larger products are a one-digit number times a multiple of ten (up to 9 × 90), or times a teen or two-digit number with a product within 100. Larger divisions have a one-digit divisor and a two-digit answer, within 100. Toys come in amounts that make sense: a wagon has 4 wheels, and a shelf holds at most 8 bears.

Learn it first

Each station matches a chapter of the Learn page for this unit, which walks through the ideas step by step.

Not covered

School Community Garden (Lesson 22) is an optional lesson, so there’s no station for it.
